Agia Christina Church

EXCURSIONS / Religious Monuments / Limassol / Agia Christina Church
The church is located in the middle of the Germasoyia historical centre and it is the most ancient church of the Municipality.

It was built in the 12th century AD and contains wall paintings dated in the 15th century AD.

The church is included in the ancient monuments. In 1996, in collaboration with the Cyprus Department of Archaeology, the church was preserved and restored in order to revert it, as much as possible, back to its original state.

At the same time, there has been an attempt to reveal and restore the wall paintings and icons of the church, which depict the historical course of Germasoyia throughout the ages.

The church is dedicated to Agia Christina whose memory is celebrated on July 23.
